Phase 1 of Uttorayon The New Township was launched in November 2002. The response received from the residents and audience in and around Siliguri was overwhelming.

Two blocks were being offered in the first phase. 399 plots in block D and 465 i block F with an approximate area of 50 acres each are being developed. Applications were received for 1300 plots with houses. Size of plots range between 25 to 6 cottahs.

Size of houses offered varies between 758 to 2800m sqft and the number of houses under construction are 93.

In block D about 17 clusters and in block F 25 clusters will be provided.

Apart from a team of technical and marketing team, more than 1000 workers are also working on the site to help reach completion at the earliest. Daytime and night security personnel have also been deployed.

Construction of major and arterial road networks have been completed. The major road being 35 m in width while the arterial roads are 15 m and 12 m respectively.
   
Other site level infrastructural developments that have been completed include drainage and setting up of street lights in the major and one of the arterial roads, Landscaping, construction of boundary walls and footpaths and setting up of an efficient system of water supply are also in progress.

Various celebrity visits have added fame and glamour to the site. A cricket academy is soon to be set up for which land has been bought by the Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly
