luxmi township limited & the luxmi tea group Life at Luxmi begins and ends with a cup of tea. That said, we hasten to add that the privileges conveyed by this bevarage, the world's gold standard, go well beyond the confines of the cup.

Tea at Luxmi covered 12 award winning tea estates and 4,000 hectares that play host to nine million kilogrammes of India's most pedigreed teas. Five winning retail brands in India have originated in our gardens and today Luxmi seves niche markets in the UK, USA, Middle East and Germany.

Our tea gardens are Narayanpur, Shyamguri, Monabag, Kendugunj, Pearacherra, Golokpur, Manuvalley, Sarojini, Shyamguri, Kalishasan, Jagannathpur, Matelli Murti and Fulbari, Packaging factories in two tea estates and warehouse in the Kolkata Port Area complete the quality chain. This is a far cry from the days when PC Chatterjee first founded Luxmi Tea in 1912, with the acquisition of Pearacherra Tea Estate in what is today the state of Tripura.

However, in almost a century of growth, one thing has remained constant at Luxmi. That is the entrepreneuring spirit. Today, we have had the vision to transform a tea garden which has ceased to produce quality tea into a neighbourhood where people from Siliguri and beyond will be able to settle and raise their families. We also have Obeetee Limited. Located at Mirzapur in UP, it is one of the largest manufacturers and exporters of woollen carpets in the country. Its wholly-owned subsidiary Obeetee Inc is spread across the USA with offices and showrooms in New York, Atlanta, San Fransicso and New Jersey.

As we embark on the venture called Uttorayon, we look back proudly at those days when PC Chatterjee planted our first tea bush. For it is his foresight that has inspired us to new heights.
